Asian Founders at Work – a book on the region’s top technopreneurs

JobsCentral exited co-founder, Huang Shao-Ning was interviewed for the recently published book, Asian Founders at Work. The book features over twenty of the top founders from across East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Published by New York publisher Apress, Asian Founders at Work follows in the same series as Founders at Work, the book they published in 2007 on the early top tech companies from Silicon Valley, like Apple and PayPal.

JobsCentral is notably the only jobs platform featured in the book.

Asian Founders at Work co-author Gracy Fernandez, who interviewed Shao-Ning Huang, said Jobscentral was chosen out of the many solutions in the job search space because it was a pioneer in the category.

“While people in other markets were using sites like Monster.com to find jobs, the process was still very much manual in Singapore and across Asia. JobsCentral pioneered the idea of making it easier to find jobs online in Asia. In this way, JobsCentral has helped thousands of companies and job-seekers find the perfect match in one another,” said Fernandez, who is a regular contributor to Entrepreneur Asia Pacific as well as KitaMo, a digital-first publication that helps improve financial literacy among Filipinos across planning, saving, investing, and insuring.

JobsCentrals’s chapter in Asian Founders at Work covers the entire lifespan of the company, beginning from its earliest days when Huang Shao-Ning and co-founder Lim Der Shing were studying in the United States and witnessing the dot-com boom in action and continuing all the way to their acquisition by CareerBuilder and their post-acquisition journey of founding of AngelCentral

Asian Founders at Work co-author Ezra Ferraz believes the story of Huang Shao-Ning and Lim Der Shing will be inspirational to the global business community.

“While they largely bootstrapped Jobscentral up until their exit, Huang Shao-Ning and Lim Der Shing are now giving back to the community through AngelCentral – a digital community for angel investors to meet and learn from one another. Their almost twenty-year story is thus one of wealth creation, first through jobs and now through startups,” said Ferraz, who is also the managing partner of Ambidextr, a tech-focused digital marketing agency backed by Future Now Ventures that handles everything from social media marketing and media relations to their events management and lead generation

In addition to JobCentral, Asian Founders at Work features exclusive one-on-one interviews with founders from some of Asia’s largest tech companies, including Bukalapak, Carousell, CloudFactory, Coins.ph, e27, 500 Startups, Future Now Ventures, GoJek, GlueCode, iflix, Lalamove, ONE Championship, Oyo Homes & Hotels, Pundi X, Rappler, Razer, Snapcart, Tech in Asia, Wantedly, Zameen, Zanroo, and Zopim. The book’s introduction also includes interview with Go-Jek founder and Co-CEO Kevin Aluwi and Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma.

The book is available now from APress and can be purchased at Amazon here
